Maripol made a name for herself in the late 1970’s as the Queen of the Polaroid photo for her one-take Polaroids of legendary artists, musicians, and models in New York City. Through her work, the famed French photographer became one of the leading photo documentarians in the city. Fast forward to now, when Beats by Dre tapped Maripol to help bring Disney Mickey Mouse’s 90th Anniversary Edition Beats Solo3 Wireless headphones to life, using her one-of-a-kind lens and photo storytelling. Which got us thinking, "How did Maripol become THE Maripol?” Our question was answered when she took us through her old New York City stomping grounds. There, she shared her creative journey, the role of photography in her life, and some advice for young creatives.
"Follow your dream, follow your instinct and don't even look to the past. Look into your own self. Find your own voice."
