Zero Dark Project
A 24-hour relay chasing the Icelandic sun

In the wilderness of Iceland, seven runners from Paris Running Club undertook a relay like no other.

Not a race or competition, the idea started as a way to get off the beaten path and see how far they could go in 24 hours, as a team. Each starting where someone else stops, from one hour to the next across the mountains, the fjords, the winds, towards a sun that never sets.

They run for their friends and for the pride of doing it together because, they say, the only way to move forward is with others. Encouraging each other, helping each other even when they could barely stand. That, is what made it an adventure that would change their lives forever.

Fueled by Powerbeats Pro, with up to 24 hours of listening time with the charging case1, they ran through the gravel, the muck, the hills, the fatigue, the tears. With just their music and their team to push them through a daunting 174 miles, and with no pre-set finish line other than to get there—together.

There was a moment in the third leg that I was alone, and my legs were starting to hurt, and then a great song came in full blast and it was incredible—it gave me the boost I needed.

They run for their friends, and for the pride of doing it together. But always more than just running, the group races to celebrate life—searching for moments where music, light, and color perfectly collide.

1 Testing conducted by Apple in March 2019 using preproduction Powerbeats Pro and Charging Case units and software paired with iPhone XS units and prerelease software. The playlist consisted of continuous pink noise at 80dB. Battery life depends on device settings, environment, usage, and many other factors.
