Beats Presents: Kid Cudi The Clubhouse Dance Party
Kid Cudi's presence is such a present he’s both the past and the future. So when the Man on the Moon landed in South Beach for The Clubhouse Dance Party during Art Basel this past December, the rage featured the full spectrum of the Cleveland Kid’s cannon. He dug deep into hits from the '80s and '90s, leading fans in sing-a-longs to Michael Jackson's ”Rock With You" and Tom Petty's "Free Fallin'.” The set was Travis Scott-approved: “Cudi, the best. Living legend! The original rager!”
Fresh off the release of his latest LP, Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’, Cudder also moved the crowd with smattering of new solo material. Backed by Virgil Abloh on the decks, the Cleveland native tapped into the vibe, gifting the showgoers a wave with the Pharrell-produced “Surfin.” The audience, comprised of a slew of creative industrialists, including A$AP Rocky and La Flare, among others, toasted in celebration of the new album and career spent at the tip of cross-cultural influence. “Cudi,” they chanted. "Cudi, Cudi."
