DR. DRE AND JIMMY IOVINE CREATE NEW ACADEMY AT USC

The massive venture will focus on arts, technology, and business.

SANTA MONICA — MAY 15, 2013— Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine have already made groundbreaking moves in the music and tech industries. Now they're making waves in the field of education, via an unprecedented venture with the University of Southern California. This week, the music industry pioneers announced the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation.

The academy will feature a multi-faceted curriculum that seeks to combine and develop core competencies in entrepreneurship, design, marketability, and much more. The four-year program culminates in the creation of prototype, a process aided by the vast resources made available to participating students. The idea is that an innovation as impactful as the next iPod or Facebook will come from this academy. As USC President C.L. Max Nikias puts it, Iovine and Young's academy "will profoundly influence the way all of us perceive and experience artistic media." The future looks bright.
